Asthma?? Maybe Not

Okay - I had enough and can't continue watching my baby be so sick. Day care called to let me know she was not eating well, coughing more and was extremely fussy. At the last minute, I found a new pediatrician...one that specializes in asthma/allergies and got in with a PA. The PA was wonderful and spent more than an hour with me. Then, the doctor came in and spent another hour with me. The most amazing thing is they tested her for RSV within the first 5 minutes of meeting her and guess what.....it was positive. It is such a simple test, yet her normal doctor never even mentioned doing it. Oh well...guess it doesn't matter at this point, but I am still frustrated that she has had to go this long without the proper diagnosis, especially when the test was so easy. The good news and what I need to focus on is that she is doing much better tonight and will hopefully continue to improve.

Asthma

Well..little Miss Brooklynn has been diagonosed with asthma. She was getting breathing treatments several times a day, but after days of throwing up all over Grandma and Mom, we decided no more meds. Apparently, she was having a reaction to the combination of meds, so we are going to stop everything for now. I made an appt with an asthma specialist and will be watching her closely until she can get in to see him.

We also have some GREAT/FANTASTIC news to share. Our finalization court hearing has been set for January 7th. Just over 2 weeks away. We are so excited and can't wait to announce her as officially as Brooklynn Mckinley Berndt. I thought this day would never come and now it is right around the corner. What a wonderful way to start the new year.

December Already?

Wow...I can't believe I haven't posted in more than a month. Life has been so busy, but so much fun with a newborn. I never believed I would love motherhood so much. Brooklynn is growing and changing every day. She isn't rolling over yet, but she is rolling on her sides and can set up for a few seconds at a time. She is also eating cereal and stage 1 foods. Sometimes she enjoys them, but not always. We started fruit today - peaches and she really liked them. We also gave her a biter biscuit and she made such a mess.

Yesterday, we went to the agency's holiday party. Brooklynn got to meet Santa for the first time and was very intrigued by his glasses. She immediately grabbed them and tried to pull them off his face. We had a nice time and enjoyed showing off our little one, as well as meeting other members of the Creative family.

Enough about us...I want to tell you about a dear friend of mine...my God Son actually who was in a very bad accident a few weeks ago. His name is Scott and there is a blog for him at http://scottwebbupdate.blogspot.com/. I ask that you please keep Scott in your prayers. He has had two surgeries and will have to under go another one. He broke his back and shattered almost every bone in his face. His Mom and Sister have been staying in a hotel, in Utah, to be close to him. Again, I ask you..please keep Scott and his family in your prayers as they are really going through a rough time.

MIA!!

Even though I haven't posted anything in 3 long weeks, we are still here and doing well. Little Brooklynn is back in day care...very long story, but she is back and has already had her first cold. She has had to sleep in her car seat every night so she is elevated. I took her to the doctor on Monday and she weighs 16 lbs.....oh wow!! Last weekend, we went to the agency trick or trunk and guess who forgot to charge their camera. Oh well, it was fun and we enjoyed seeing other creative families with their children. Our trunk was pretty cute too. You will just have to take my word on it, since I didn't get any pictures.

Pictures for Pappa Jon

Pappa Jon is a HUGE John Deere fan, so we took these pictures for him. The outfit and boots were a gift from Grandma Di and Pappa Jon. The cute blanket was handmade for her by Jennifer Casey. Don't tell Pappa Jon, but these pictures might be wrapped and put under the tree for Christmas.

Halloween Costume

I have come to realize that the "so cute" Halloween costume is loved by many, as the next couple behind us at the picture place had the same costume and a good friend of ours also has the costume. I guess it is a popular one this year. Daddy may take her to the neighbors and I will take her to work to show off, but she won't be doing much trick or treating this year. The agency is also doing their 2nd annual Trick or Trunk and we will take her to do that. I look forward to handing out candy and she is just too little to take out this year...maybe next year.

3 Month Picture

Brooklynn got her 3 month pictures today and they are pretty cute if I should say so myself. Grandma Di came up to see us and to go to the Race for the Cure tomorrow. We had pictures with all three of us....3 generations!! Grandma and I haven't had professional pictures together since I was 7 or 8, so they were well over due. Athena and Alexis joined us too. We attempted to get pictures with Alexis and Brooklynn, but after the 1 1/2 wait in the studio, Alexis was not up to taking any pictures. We will have to get them done another time. After pictures we went to eat at Ted's (Daddy's favorite) and then went shopping. It is time to redeem Gymbucks, so Athena and I "went to town".

At the Delaneys

I took Ms Brooklynn to the Delaneys today, as Ashley is off to get married. Athena has sent several text messages and pictures. She put Brooklynn in the Bumbo and she is doing great. Athena said she isn't a big fan of tummy time, but we knew that already; however, she loves their play mat and has been watching herself alot. I guess when you are that cute it is okay to look at yourself all the time!!

Zoo - Saturday

We joined Athena & Alexis at the zoo on Saturday. The weather was amazing, so we had to take advantage of it. We definitely got our use out of the zoo membership (highly recommend this). Brooklynn enjoyed watching the fish move around and captured alot of "oh how cute" from other zoo-goers. She was dressed in a little dress and matching hat, from her Aunt Wendy & family. I put her in the carrier for most of the day - facing out (for the first time) and she did so well. She made Mommy very proud. I was kinda scared about the sun, so I put enough sun screen on her to last a life time. Can you say over protective?

Ear Piercing - Ouch

Last week Athena, Alexis, Brooklynn and I had a "Girls Day" and enjoyed some retail therapy. We went to South Dakota for Joy's (sister inlaw) wedding over the weekend, so it had been a week or so since we last saw the Delaneys. Well, during our shopping trip, I decided to get Brooklynn's ears pierced. Being the wimp that I am, I felt so bad and could not hold her during the process. Athena to the rescue!! She held her for me, while I paced the floor. She really screamed..I felt so bad. On top of it, the piercing gun became lodged during her second ear and they had to start over. Ohhhh, I felt so bad. At least Auntie Athena was the bad person and not Mommy!! Anyway, her ears are doing great and here are some pictures from our little adventure.

Poor baby!!

Don't look Brooklynn!!

Finally - We have our own blog

I've been meaning to do this for months..seriously, but it is always something. No more excuses - today is the day!! My hope is that our friends and family will use our blog as a means to watch our beautiful daughter grow and change, as we can't believe how time is flying by. She is almost 3 months old now and really starting to develop a personality. She knows what she likes and you will know if she isn't a big fan. She is really cooing and giving big smiles. I know I am partial, but I think she is the best baby and we couldn't love her more. Chris was giving me a hard time last night that she never takes her eyes off me. She keeps a close watch on her Mommy. Oh motherhood is the best feeling in the world. We waited for so long and there were times I never thought it would happen, but here we are!! Our prayers have been answered.
