Pink Eye Now - One thing after another

I got the call from Day Care on Wednesday that Ms Brooklynn had pink eye. Her eye was totally fine Wed morning when I dropped her off, but by 1 pm, there was no doubt she had pink eye. She has been on the meds for two days now and is looking alot better. Now we just need to get her Daddy healthy. He has been sick for a week and went to the doctor today. They said he has a GI bug and gave him meds that really knock him out.

Last Friday was Brooklynn's 6-month check up. Dr Stanga wants her to have nightly pulmocort nebs and stay on the reflux medicine. Not thrilled about giving her steroids, but we need to do everything we can to keep her little lungs healthy. As you can tell from her pictures, she is a big girl - weight is 18 lbs 12 oz (95%) and height is 26 in (75%)!!

The latest thing she is doing is so cute...she dances to music. Our little girl has rhythm!! :-) Her dancing consists of bopping her head, but it is so dang cute!

We heard that my cousins, Jason and Jon, both got engaged over the holidays, so we are pretty happy for them and look forward to their weddings this summer. We also asked Jon and his fiance, Pam, to be Brooklynn's God parents. Grandma Di is in the process of helping plan her baptism, so that will also be happening in the coming months.

Nothing else new to report...same old thing. Brooklynn is eating solids very well now and is sitting up great. She loves her toys and plays quite well.

Looking forward to the weekend. Going to see my sister, Tiana, and Keira, as well as Di and Grandma Reid. It should be a good time!!

6 Month Pictures

Brooklynn is so photogenic that it is extremely difficult to select pictures after we have them done. I always end up spending more than I planned, but I just can't choose. They are all so cute. Wow..I know that I am partial, but she really is a beautiful little girl.

Sitting here tonight watching the Bachelor (yeah, I know it is a cheesy show, but I still love it), it really dawned on me that I am finally a Mom. If you watched the show you will understand. I have waited so long to have a family and to finally become a Mom, that I just sat here and cried. I guess I am entitled to a few tears after everything that has happened. :-)

Anyway..moving right along or I will start crying again. Little Ms Brooklynn has had a rough few days. Thursday night she wasn't acting like herself. She didn't want to eat her dinner or breakfast on Friday. Then I got the call from Day Care that she had thrown up, so I left work and brought her home. She threw up several times throughout the weekend and just wanted to be held. I took her to day care this morning, as she hadn't gotten sick for more than 24 hours, but she still did not have an appetite. At lunch, I ran by school to take her some pedialyte and to give her some motrin. Needless to say, it was good I stopped by as she got sick..everywhere..shortly after I got there. I brought her home and she ate better than she has in several days. The flu bug is definitely going around, so I'm sure she caught it.

Tomorrow we are supposed to go to the aquarium with Athena and her moms group. We are just playing things by ear now, as I don't want her around other kids if she is still sick. For now she is resting very sound.

For Keeps

She is finally ours. The court hearing was very short, but sweet. It was scheduled for 9:00 am, with a total of 4 families. We were the last family to go and were out of the court room around 9:00 am. We had my Mom and Dad (Grammy and Pappa Jon), Dave Stephens (my work Dad), Athena, Bobbie, Carrie and Rebecca. We got a picture with the judge, then went to the Egg & I (Egg & U - for mom). It was alot of fun!!

Thank you everyone who came and shared the day with us. Special thanks to my Mom, Dad and Bobbie for driving through the snow. I was hoping the passes wouldn't open so you could stay longer.

Finalization - Yahoo!!

Well...tomorrow is the day we have been waiting for - our finalization hearing. We are so excited and can't wait till she is officially Brooklynn Berndt. While it seems like this day would never come, I can't believe our little girl is already 6 months. It really has gone by rather quickly. She is doing great. The cold is almost all gone. She still has a bit of a cough, but nothing big and she hasn't thrown up since they put her on reflux medicine.

Christmas was amazing. She had a good time ripping the paper and then immediately to her mouth. Needless to say - she was very very spoiled by everyone, especially her Grammy and Pappa Jon.

For New Years we spent it with our good friends Rob and Athena. It was nice..very quiet. We played their Wii and dominos. I can't believe it, but we stayed up till midnight, toasted with champagne, then went to bed. It was a great night. Brooklynn fell asleep earlier, but woke up to bring in the new year with us!

I have so many cute pictures to post. I will try to do that after our hearing tomorrow.

Happy holidays to you and your family.
